Korean law firm Yoon & Yang has hired three senior foreign attorneys: U.S.-qualified M&A expert Jason W. Lee (L) joins from Kim & Chang, corporate specialist Sung Jin Ro joins from an in-house role at Versum Materials, and China-qualified technology practitioner Song Feng Hong joins from Bae Kim & Lee.

This is the latest of the series of senior lawyer hirings by Yoon & Yang in the past couple of years. Last October, it has nabbed aviation expert Hye Kyung Helen Sohn from fellow Big Six firm Lee & Ko , while three new partners: Former presiding judges Su Yeol Lee and Sang Jae Park, and former chief prosecutor Young Hyun Kim joined the firm in April 2021.

Lee advises on M&A including outbound and inbound investments and joint ventures as well as international trade and customs matters. Some of his notable cases are advising Allianz on its sale of Allianz Korea to the Anbang Group in 2017 and a consortium led by POSCO on its acquisition of a minority interest in the ArcelorMittal Mines Canada mining business.

With experience in the technology industry, Sung Jin Ro has built up his career mainly in in-house roles at companies such as semiconductor giant Jusung Engineering and industry solutions provider Emerson Automation Solutions. He had been general counsel at Versum Materials, a materials manufacturer for the semiconductor and display industries, since 2016.

Specialising in corporate law, international arbitration and China-related legal matters, Song Feng Hong worked for Bae, Kim & Lee for 15 years. He advises Chinese companies regarding their investments in Korea, and acts for Korean and Chinese clients on international arbitrations. His notable cases include advising Hyundai Motor on its joint venture project with a Chinese state-owned company in Sichuan Province.
