DFDL has strengthened its presence across Southeast Asia by relocating a partner to Myanmar and establishing an association with Indonesian firm Mataram Partners.

The firm has transferred William Greenlee, former head of the Indonesia practice, to the Yangon office in response to growing demand for its legal services in the country.

Greenlee has particular expertise in M&A and project finance, and frequently counsels private equity and opportunity-fund companies.

“The recent political and economic changes have brought a fast and growing interest from international investors for the country. To meet with this demand, we have significantly strengthened our teams of legal and tax advisers over the past year locally. William’s expertise in capital markets and M&A, and his regional experience, will be an extremely valuable addition to our Myanmar practice and a great asset for all of our clients wanting to invest in the country.” said Martin Desautels, managing partner in a statement.

DFDL has also announced an association with Indonesian firm Mataram Partners. Established since 2006, Mataram Partners focuses on civil and commercial law across a wide range of sectors.

The Indonesia practice will be helmed by DFDL partner and managing director Rashed Idrees in Singapore, while founder Andi Zulfikar from Mataram Partners will manage the practice in Jakarta.

The team will focus on energy and mining projects, infrastructure, natural resources, and M&A and FDI transactions.

“This is another move forward in our international strategy to seamlessly serve our international clients’ outbound and inbound matters from and in our various offices in Asia,” continued Desautels in a statement, “Mataram Partners has been successfully advising prestigious local and international clients, and their professional standards and values are in line with DFDL’s. I trust this partnership with Mataram Law will bring value to our clients willing to invest in Indonesia, and those who want to diversify out of the Archipelago.”
