Singapore Big Four firm WongPartnership has opened an office in Yangon, Myanmar, as it looks to expand its Asian footprint.
The new office will assist foreign clients looking to invest in Myanmar, as well as businesses in the country seeking international joint venture partners and investors. Current clients are in the hospitality, agriculture, telecommunication equipment and services, and FMCG sectors, and the firm is also advising on construction and infrastructure projects.
WongPartnership has recently advised Myanmar Golden Star Beverage Co Ltd in its joint venture with South Korea’s Lotte Chilsung Beverage Co Ltd to produce and distribute PepsiCo drinks, Pan Pacific Hotels Group Ltd in its Yangon hotel development joint venture, Amara Communications Ltd in its bid for a public telecommunications licence as part of a consortium, and Malaysia’s Parkson Retail Asia Ltd on its expansion of its network of Parkson department stores into Myanmar via a joint venture with Yoma Strategic Holdings Ltd and First Myanmar Investment Company Ltd.

The firm currently also has two offices in China, one in Malaysia (through associate firm Foong & Partners), and two in the Middle East – in Abu Dhabi and Doha.
