Offshore law firm Walkers has hired Robert Foote as a counsel from Ogier, along with Casheen van Halder as an associate from McFarlanes, as it looks to expand in Singapore.

Foote, joining the firm’s Asian Insolvency and Corporate Recovery (ICR) practice, is the first member of that group to be based in Singapore. With more than a decade of experience in insolvency, restructuring and commercial litigation, Foote has represented corporates, creditors, equity investors, and insolvency practitioners in commercial disputes, insolvency and restructuring matters, asset tracing, trust disputes, and banking and finance litigation.

As a member of Walkers’ Singapore-based Funds and Corporate Team, van Halder will assist on investment funds, as well as corporate and equity-related transactions. She has advised global companies on a variety of complex transactional matters including private acquisitions and disposals, public takeovers, equity financings, joint ventures, and regulatory compliance.

“We are extremely excited to welcome Robert and Casheen to our Singapore-based team,” said John Rogers, Managing Partner of Walkers' Singapore office. “As we celebrate the fourth anniversary of our establishment in Singapore, the addition of such accomplished professionals is a testament to the unparalleled reputation and successful track record that the office has maintained over the years. Moreover, their deep experience and expertise will be an exceptional asset in helping us to better serve the needs of our diverse Asian client base.”

In August 2012, Walkers hired Tim Haynes at its Hong Kong office as counsel. Haynes specialises in commercial litigation and dispute resolution.
