Sweet & Maxwell Asia, a division of Thomson Reuters, recently launched WestLaw Malaysia, a comprehensive and accessible legal research tool for the legal, accountancy and regulatory markets in the country.

Developed over two years, Westlaw Malaysia offers complete coverage of All Malaysia Reports (AMR) in addition to All Malaysia Electronic Judgments (AMEJ).  For the first time in Malaysia, users can link up with Westlaw UK and Westlaw India to access up-to-date coverage of cases, legislations, and journals across multiple jurisdictions.

“This launch brings Sweet & Maxwell Asia on par with the other competitors in the market,” says Devaraj Letchumanan, Managing Director, Malaysia/Singapore.

“This is the first Thomson Reuters project that has been launched in Southeast Asia, and it should transform the market in Malaysia,” says Geoffrey Potts, Programme Manager at Thomson Reuters in Halifax, UK, adding that “it’s an example of a global collaboration that’s been a success as we had teams from Argentina, Malaysia, India, Hong Kong, the UK, and the U.S. all working together to develop this project.”

Following the launch, Westlaw Malaysia will continue to add legislations, articles, a citator service, and a trilingual legal glossary to the service in order to provide a current, competitive and wide-ranging research tool. ALB
