International law firm SNR Denton recently bolstered its Middle East corporate practice by poaching three Dewey & LeBoeuf lawyers for its energy, transport and infrastructure team. Karl Hopkins has been named partner, while Shon Ramey and Sinan Pismisoglu have joined as counsel and foreign legal specialist respectively.
All the three new hires will be based out of Washington D.C., but will be working with clients and projects in the Middle East.
Hopkins’ practice includes advising clients on the development, construction, start-up and operation of large international energy projects. He brings experience in asset-based transactions, including the sale of oil and gas interests, the development of oil and gas production facilities (both onshore and offshore), pipelines, refineries, terminals, LNG liquefaction and regas facilities, and related infrastructure projects.

His oil and gas and infrastructure project deals practice, together with related international arbitration matters, built on the foundation of his key Middle East relationships, makes him an exceptional strategic fit for SNR Denton,” said Joe Andrew, global chairman of SNR Denton, in a statement.
Ramey focuses on mergers and acquisitions, dispositions, joint ventures and financings. Prior to joining SNR Denton, he was in Abu Dhabi where he served as the senior foreign counsel representing a Gulf-based sovereign wealth fund in the privatisation of its national air carrier.
Pismisoglu’s practice focuses on the representation of public and private entities in international litigation, project finance, privatisation, construction, as well as real estate development and management. He has represented clients in energy-related matters in Turkey, Brazil, Kuwait, France, Poland, Pakistan and Kazakhstan. ALB
