Indian law firm Economic Laws Practice (ELP) has opened its sixth office in Chennai, which will be headed by tax partner Nishant Shah.

The Chennai office will primarily cater to the firm’s tax and litigation clients, and has plans to also service local corporate clients in the near future.

Shah, who will be supported by associate partner Karthik Sundaram, advises on both direct and indirect taxes with a special focus on laws relating to SEZs and anti-money laundering. Sundaram is also an expert on tax matters.

“ELP has long had quality clients in Chennai who have recurrently suggested we set up an office in Chennai. This office has been opened in response to those requests and the huge upsurge in quality legal work in Chennai,” Rohan Shah, ELP’s managing partner, said in a statement.

ELP opened its Bangalore office in August last year.
