Akin Gump Strauss Hauer & Feld has added to its investigations and compliance expertise in Hong Kong, relocating international trade partner Tatman Savio from Washington, D.C., and hiring litigation lawyer Vena Cheng as a senior consultant.

Savio advises companies on international trade matters including export control, foreign investment laws and anti-corruption and anti-bribery regulations. She also helps clients develop and implement internal compliance programmes.

Cheng joins Akin Gump from Morrison & Foerster, where she was an Of Counsel in the firm’s Hong Kong office. She advises both Chinese and international clients on white collar criminal issues, antitrust matters, commercial litigation and internal investigations, with a focus on Foreign Corrupt Practices Act investigations and enforcement actions.

Akin Gump’s global international trade and investigations team comprises more than 100 lawyers.

The arrival of Savio and Cheng follows the addition of five partners to Akin Gump’s Hong Kong office last September, and 23 other partners who joined the firm in Europe.
