The two new law firms created out of the legacy Amarchand & Mangaldas & Suresh A Shroff & Co. – once India’s largest firm – have started business as Shardul Amarchand Mangaldas and Cyril Amarchand Mangaldas.

Shardul Amarchand Mangaldas will have three new offices in Mumbai and an office in Bangalore to go with its existing offices in New Delhi, Gurgaon, Ahmedabad and Kolkata. Partner Pallavi Shroff will take on the role of managing partner, Northern Region, and she will be supported by the firm’s COO Jennifer Milford.

According to Indian website Legally India, Cyril Amarchand Mangaldas is aiming for 590 fee-earners, including 91 partners nationally, by the end of the summer.

Brothers Shardul and Cyril Shroff have “amicably resolved” their very public dispute, and Amarchand Mangaldas & Suresh Shroff & Co will “split and bifurcate into separate entities independently” practicing law, according to a press release.
