Offshore law firm Harneys has hired Joanne Verbiesen as litigation partner in Hong Kong from Walkers, where she was an associate in the Cayman Islands office.

Verbiesen has over 11 years of experience in commercial litigation, contentious trusts and insolvency. She regularly appeared before the Grand Court of the Cayman Islands as leading counsel and junior counsel. Prior to Walkers, Verbiesen worked with Izard Weston, Stout Street Chambers and Chapman Tripp.

“Joanne’s hire adds further depth of expertise to our litigation and insolvency practice in Hong Kong, which continues to grow under the leadership of Ian Mann. We are delighted to welcome Joanne to the team,” said Jonathan Culshaw, Harneys’ Asia managing partner, in a statement.

Last year, Harneys combined with Bermuda law firm Hurrion and hired seven lawyers for its Cayman Islands practice.
