Linklaters has advised Thailand's Siam City Cement Public Company (SCCC) on the purchase of two businesses from LafargeHolcim: Holcim Lanka for $373 million and a majority stake in Holcim Vietnam for $532 million.

The acquisition of Holcim Lanka is expected to give SCCC the largest share of the cement market in Sri Lanka, while the acquisition of Holcim Vietnam is expected to help SCCC expand its cash generation, reduce its dependence on conventional export markets and optimise its IT systems.

The Vietnam deal involved SCCC buying LafargeHolcim's 65 percent stake in the Holcim Vietnam joint venture. The remaining 35 percent stake is held by the state-owned Vietnam Cement Industry Corporation.

The Linklaters team working on the transactions was led by partners Robert Cleaver, Alex Bidlake and Wanwisar Nakarat.
