Anglo-German law firm Taylor Wessing has ended its eight-year alliance with Singapore’s RHTLaw.

RTHLaw became Taylor Wessing’s strategic alliance firm – and a member of its international network - three months after the former launched in Singapore in 2011. Since then, the firm had been known as RHT Law Taylor Wessing.

According to a joint statement, both the firms “have decided to move towards a collaborative relationship in place of our formal links to enable both businesses to pursue longer-term objectives in accordance with their respective strategies.”

The 22-partner RHTLaw is part of the ASEAN Plus Group, a network of 11 law firms around the Asia-Pacific region that it was instrumental in setting up in 2014.

The firm is also a part of the RHT Group of companies, that includes entities engaged in businesses such as financial and capital markets advisory, communications, investor relations, IP advisory and compliance advisory.

Recently, the Singapore Exchange issued a notice of compliance to RHT Capital (RHTC), a sponsor of Catalist companies, over potential conflict of interest from RHTLaw Taylor Wessing and other RHT Group entities servicing RHTC-sponsored firms. According to a report in the Business Times, a few of these companies were utilising the services of RHT Corporate Advisory and RHT Communications and Investor Relations.
