Arbitration-focused UK firm Three Crowns has opened an office in Singapore after hiring disputes expert Daryl Chew as a partner from Shearman & Sterling, where he led the Singapore office.

Joining Chew at Three Crowns is Shearman associate Shaun Pereira. The office will also include partner Simon Elliot, counsel Penny Martin, and associates YiKang Zhang and Zachary Mollengarden, who are relocating from various Three Crowns offices.

Additionally, lawyers from the firm’s existing offices, including Manish Aggarwal, Gaëtan Verhoosel, and Todd Wetmore, will spend time in the region.

Chew advises clients in arbitrations related to energy, construction, M&A, joint venture, and general commercial disputes. He spent more than 14 years at Shearman, having started his career there in 2008.

Singapore is the fourth overseas office for Three Crowns, founded in 2014, which also has branches in Bahrain, Paris, and Washington, DC.

The city-state has seen a number of new arrivals in the past year, including India’s Cyril Amarchand Mangaldas and Khaitan & Co, U.S. firms McDermott Will & Emery and Orrick, Herrington & Sutcliffe, Korea’s Bae, Kim & Lee, and PRC firm Allbright Law Offices.
