Technology lawyer Wilfred Ng has returned to Bird & Bird as a partner in Hong Kong following a three-year stint at Chinese conglomerate Tencent, where he was a senior legal counsel in the international privacy and data protection department.

Ng will focus on growing Bird & Bird’s existing tech & communications sector group in Hong Kong and the wider APAC region. His previous spell at Bird & Bird was between 2014 and 2019, prior to which he was at Herbert Smith Freehills.

His arrival takes the number of partners at Bird & Bird’s Hong Kong office to 10. They include disputes expert Danny Leung, who joined from PRC firm Haiwen & Partners in March.
