U.S. law firm Seyfarth Shaw has hired employment law specialist Kathryn Weaver as a partner in Hong Kong from Lewis Silkin, where she was the head of the office in the SAR.

Weaver’s arrival means Seyfarth has added three partners in Hong Kong office in the past 12 months, following the additions of corporate and commercial partner Stefano Beghi in October from Gianni & Origoni and technology, media, and telecommunications partner Paul Haswell in January from Pinsent Masons..

Weaver advises multinational employers on their Asia-Pacific HR-related legal issues including employment law, immigration, data privacy and benefits.

At Lewis Silkin, where she worked for more than 15 years, Weaver was a partner and the head of its Hong Kong office since 2018. Her departure means that the firm has lost its second Hong Kong partner since November, when IP head David Swain moved to Essex Bio-Technology as general counsel.

With this addition, the number of partners in Seyfarth’s Hong Kong office, which opened in 2017, has risen to eight.
