Prolegis, Herbert Smith Freehills' Singapore alliance law firm, has recruited a four-lawyer team led by litigator Daniel Chia from Morgan, Lewis & Bockius, where he was the head of the Asia disputes practice.

Chia, who will join Prolegis with fellow directors Jonathan Tang and Yanguang Ker, will be the firm’s head of litigation, and launch its disputes practice. The team, which also includes associate Charlene Wee, will closely work with HSF’s Southeast Asia disputes practice team.

With nearly two decades of experience, Chia represents clients before the Singapore High Court, the Court of Appeal, and the Singapore International Commercial Court in commercial disputes, arbitration-linked cases and restructuring and insolvency proceedings. He specialises in matters relating to regulatory, commercial fraud and business crime defense. Prior to joining Morgan Lewis, Chia was at Drew & Napier.

Meanwhile, Tang acts for debtor companies, creditors, liquidators and insolvency professionals in the sectors including the private capital, financial services, energy and resources, manufacturing, and fintech on corporate restructuring, workouts and debtor-led insolvency.

And Ker advises on commercial litigation and arbitration, employment law and white-collar crime defense with particular focus on private capital, energy and resources, financial services, digital assets, bankruptcy, and construction.

The arrival of the trio takes the number of directors at Prolegis to eight. They include energy expert Adrian Wong, who joined from CMS in June last year.
