Singapore Big Four law firm Allen & Gledhill has hired aviation attorney Siva Subramaniam from Herbert Smith Freehills to lead its aviation finance practice and co-lead its maritime group.

Subramaniam, who joined A&G as an international counsel, advises aviation companies, lenders and investors on deals in the sector, including leveraged leases, portfolio sales and financings and sale-leasebacks.

His clients have included Singapore Airlines, Bain Capital, HSBC, Societe Generale Group, Mitsubishi UFJ Financial Group and Air Asia.

Subramaniam was a partner at Watson Farley & Williams before moving to HSF in a four-partner move in 2018.

With aviation in the region rebounding following the pandemic, law firms in Singapore have been steadily hiring aviation lawyers. Recent examples include Clyde & Co, which hired Terence Liew as a partner from HFW, and Rajah & Tann, which added Milbank’s Paul Ng as the head of its aviation practice.
