Herbert Smith Freehills (HSF) has welcomed back project finance specialist Rupert Baker as a partner in Singapore from Japanese conglomerate SoftBank Group, where he was a senior counsel and head of the project finance and energy group.

Baker began his career with HSF, and worked with the law firm for close to a decade. In 2019, while a senior associate at the firm, he joined the SoftBank Group.

Baker advises sponsors, investors and financiers on project financing in the Asia-Pacific, which includes financing greenfield projects and brownfield asset refinancing, as well as financing-related aspects of secondary market acquisitions.

With the hire of Baker, HSF has 14 partners in its Singapore office.
