Manchester-headquartered law firm DWF has hired Indonesia specialist Joel Shen as a partner in Singapore from Stephenson Harwood, where he was a counsel.

Shen, who spent 11 years at Stephenson Harwood, has been based in Jakarta since 2015. During that time, he was on secondment to Christian Teo & Partners, the UK firm’s alliance firm in Indonesia.

Following his move to DWF, Shen will also remain a foreign counsel at Christian Teo.

Shen, who does a variety of corporate work, represents clients in the technology, digital, media, marketing and communications, food & beverage and consumer sectors. He is also a venture principal at Vickers Venture Partners. Shen started his career at Singapore’s Shook Lin & Bok.

DWF has been expanding steadily in Singapore since opening its office in 2017. In 2018, it hired partners Jonathan Goacher and Babita Ambekar, with Ben Constance coming on board in early 2019.

Following the arrival of Shen, DWF has seven partners and a director in its Singapore office.
