HFW has bolstered its shipping practice in Singapore with the hire of dry shipping expert Christopher Metcalf as a partner from Clyde & Co.

Metcalf focuses on matters in the shipping, offshore and oil and gas sectors, including charter party, COA, bills of lading and other commercial agreements. He also advises insurers on coverage and subrogation, and is experienced in litigation, mediation and arbitration in local and international venues.

His clients include vessel owners and charterers, offshore service contractors, oil majors, mining companies, traders, bunker suppliers, P&I Clubs, and other marine and offshore insurers.

Before joining Clyde & Co, Metcalf was a solicitor at The North of England P&I Association Limited.

Metcalf’s arrival takes the number of partners at HFW’s Singapore office to 18. The firm operates in the city-state through a formal law alliance with local firm AsiaLegal.
