Hong Kong law firm Ince & Co has continued to shed lawyers, with a three-member shipping and maritime team led by partner Ruaridh Guy joining global firm Squire Patton Boggs.
Guy, who joins Squire Patton Boggs’ Hong Kong-based litigation practice along with two associates, advises shipping and trading clients on dispute resolution matters. He has experience in institutional and ad hoc arbitration based in Hong Kong, Singapore, London and Seoul.
Guy also has substantial experience in contentious insolvency matters, acting for creditors and liquidators.
“Hong Kong is one of the world’s most important maritime hubs and arbitration jurisdictions, and we have been looking to develop our offering in that market as part of the expansion of our global practice,” said Barry Stimpson, who co-leads Squire Patton Boggs’ commodities and shipping industry group.
The departures come at a time when Ince Hong Kong has been losing partners across the board. Earlier this month, Ince Hong Kong lost an eight-lawyer team to Hill Dickinson. The head of the firm’s Greater China practice and Shanghai office lead, Paul Ho, moved to Stephenson Harwood last month. Disputes partner Stephen Chan joined Charles Russell Speechlys, and CMS added shipping and insurance partner Richard Oakley as a consultant.
Ince Hong Kong’s website is temporarily closed, noting that a new website is in the works. An estimated seven partners now remain, including Priscilla Wong, who joined from Loeb & Loeb earlier this year.
