Stefano Mariani, most recently the head of the tax and trusts practice at Hong Kong law firm Deacons, has joined Baker McKenzie as a counsel.

A qualified barrister, Mariani advises on advisory and contentious tax matters such as corporate and personal taxation, stamp duties and property taxes regarding Hong Kong and international tax law, including cross-border tax planning and double taxation treaty-related tax structuring. He represents clients before the Inland Revenue Board of Review, the District Court, the High Court and the Court of Appeal in Hong Kong.

Having started his career at offshore law firm Carey Olsen in 2012 in the UK, Mariani joined Deacons in Hong Kong in 2014, becoming a partner in 2021.
