India’s largest law firm, Khaitan & Co, has landed private client practitioner Divi Dutta as a partner in its Noida office from Shardul Amarchand Mangaldas & Co.

Dutta advises wealthy individuals on succession planning, trusts, wills, estates, family settlements, ring-fencing of assets, family separations, family constitutions and private wealth management. She also assists on general corporate matters as well as M&A.

Dutta joined the legacy Amarchand Mangaldas in 2012 and became a partner at SAM in 2016. Prior to that, she spent five years at Crawford Bayley & Co.

Dutta is Khaitan’s first lateral partner hire this year; the firm hired at least four in 2023. In October, M&A attorney Aravind Venugopal rejoined the firm’s Bengaluru office after one-year stint as general counsel at online insurance company Acko. Earlier, Khaitan recruited corporate expert Radhika Iyer as in Mumbai from Khaitan Legal Associates and in April, corporate experts Promode Murugavelu and Rakki Partani joined in Chennai and Bengaluru from SAM and J Sagar Associates, respectively.
